Start:
A rough day 2 for Pakistan has come to an end. Pakistani fans and the team itself would like to forget this day but it will haunt them.
New Zealand resumed their 1st inning on day 2 with 309 runs for the loss of 6 wickets. The first three wickets of New Zealand fell comparatively early on day 2. The 7th, 8th, and 9th, wickets of New Zealand fell for 309, 340, and 345 runs respectively.
10TH Wicket Partnership:
At that time Pakistan was ahead of New Zealand. And then something happened that no one anticipated. Number 10 and Number 11 of New Zealand put up a partnership of 104 runs. Ajaz Patel and Matt Henry did something unreal with the bat.
Ajaz Patel and Matt Henry scored 35 and 68 runs respectively. This partnership not only took the Kiwi score to 449 runs but also made it very difficult for Pakistan to take a big 1st inning lead.
Bowling:
Abrar Ahmed took 4 wickets, Naseem Shah took 3 wickets and Salman Ali Agha took 3 wickets from Pakistan’s side. Hassan Ali and Mir Hamza remained wicketless.
Pakistan’s Batting:
When Pakistan came out to bat, the wickets kept falling. 1st wicket of Pakistan fell with only 27 runs on board. Abdullah Shafique got out on the ball of Matt Henry. Shan lost his wicket on Ajaz Patel’s ball. He departed when Pakistan had only scored 56 runs.
Babar’s Dismissal:
Babar came out to bat with a very positive mindset. But Babar also got out after scoring 24 runs. A bad call for a single made him lose his wicket. It was Imam’s call that got him run out.
Stumps:
At the stumps on day 2, Pakistan scored 154 runs for the loss of 3 wickets. Imam ul Haq is batting on 74 runs not out. Alongside him is batting Saud Shakeel with 13 runs on board.
Day 3:
Day 3 will be very interesting as we’ll see how Pakistan approached this inning with their main man Babar Azam back in the dressing room.
