2nd test match of the two-match test series between Pakistan and New Zealand ended in a draw on day 5 in Karachi.
Beginning:
Pakistan resumed their inning on day 5 with 0/2 on the board. Imam ul Haq got out after scoring 12 runs. Babar Azam and Shan Masood lost their wickets after scoring 27 and 35 runs respectively. Pakistan was in deep trouble at this time.
Saud and Sarfaraz Partnership:
After losing 5 wickets for just 80 runs, Sarfaraz and Saud again built a crucial partnership. They scored 123 runs together. Saud Shakeel got out after scoring 32 runs in 146 deliveries. Pakistan’s score on the scoreboard was 203/6 at that time.
Sarfaraz’s Dream Comeback:
Sarfaraz Ahmed played a match-saving inning of 118 runs in 176 deliveries. He won both, Player of The Match as well as Player of The Series awards for his brilliant performance with the bat in this series.
Agha and Sarfaraz Partnership:
After Saud’s dismissal, Sarfaraz was joined by Salman Ali Agha in the middle. Salman played a quick inning of 30 runs in 40 deliveries. Sarfaraz and Salman built up a partnership of 70 runs, broken when Salman was dismissed for 30.
Hassan & Sarfaraz’s Dismissals:
Hassan Ali got dismissed when Pakistan’s score was 282. Sarfaraz got out and Pakistan was 287/9. It seemed that Pakistan is going to lose another test match and series on home soil.
11th Wicket Partnership:
Naseem Shah was joined by Abrar Ahmed in the middle. Both these batters scored 17 runs together in a match-saving 11th wicket partnership. The umpires took the call to end the match due to bad light and the match ended in a draw.
Draw:
At the stumps of day 5, both teams looked happy. Both teams focused more on not losing the match than winning it at the end of day 5. The reaction of both teams after the draw proved that they were happy with the result.
