Pakistan’s Batting:

Pakistan came out to chase 262 runs and lost the opening pair very early. Both Imam and Fakhar got out after scoring 6 and 0 runs respectively.

The pitch got tougher to bat on under the lights at night time. Spinners started spinning the ball and the fast bowlers, specially Lockie Ferguson got plenty of support from the surface.

Babar and Rizwan put up a partnership of 55 runs but both the batter were struggling. Rizwan got out after scoring 28 runs off 50 deliveries. Haris Sohail joined Babar on the crease after Rizwan’s dismissal but he also got out after scoring 10 runs only.

Salman Ali Agha joined Babar in the middle and batted very positively. He scored 25 runs off 22 deliveries and got run out. After Agha’s dismissal, no other batter stayed on the crease for too long. Babar on the other hand was struggling to find boundaries himself. Nawaz, Usama Mir, and Wasim Jnr. got out after scoring 3, 12, and 10 runs respectively.

The required run rate was around 10 runs per over at that time. Babar has no other option but to hit boundaries. He smashed the ball for a six over the extra cover and got stumped out in the same over. He scored 79 runs. Haris Rauf was the last man to get out. He got out for a duck.

New Zealand’s Bowling:

New Zealand was too good with the ball. They didn’t let Pakistan score runs freely. They got wickets regularly and made the target of 262 runs look too big on that surface.
