Punjab and KP Assemblies Being Dissolved

The Development:

After taking the vote of confidence from the Punjab Assembly on Thursday, January 12, 2023, Imran Khan advised CM Punjab Parvez Elahi to dissolve the Punjab Assembly.

The Meeting:

After a meeting at Imran Khan’s residence at Zaman Park, Parvez Elahi has written a letter to the Governor of Punjab to dissolve the Punjab Assembly.

The Process:

The summary of the dissolution of the Punjab Assembly has been sent to the Governor of Punjab Muhammad Baligh Ur Rehman. He has 48 hours to sign the summary.

If Mr. Muhammad Baligh Ur Rehman doesn’t sign the summary of the dissolution of the Punjab Assembly, the Assembly will be dissolved after 48 hours (on Sunday) automatically according to the constitution of Pakistan.

KPK Assembly:

On the other hand, CM KPK Mahmood Khan will also send advice to the Governor of KPK to dissolve the KPK assembly within the next 2 days.

Road To The Election:

Both Punjab and KPK Assemblies will get dissolved by Sunday. After which there will be a caretaking government in both provinces for 90 days. The elections in both provinces will take place after 90 days according to the constitution.

Possibility of The General Elections:

After the dissolution of Punjab and KPK Assemblies, it will be very difficult for the PDM to avoid general elections. More than half of the total population of Pakistan lives in Punjab and KPK. The dissolution of the assemblies of these two provinces has increased the chances of general elections in Pakistan.
