New Zealand Won The ODI Series Against Pakistan

The 3rd ODI of the three-match ODI series between Pakistan and New Zealand was played in Karachi today. New Zealand defeated Pakistan by 2 wickets in the 3rd match to win the 3-match series by 2-1.

Toss:

Pakistan won the toss and elected to bat first. Pakistan made two changes. Shan came in for Imam and Hasnain came in for Naseem.

Pakistan’s Batting

Pakistan started the match in the worst possible manner. Shan Masood got out for a duck. Captain Babar Azam also got out early. Babar scored only 4 runs.

Rizwan joined Fakhar in the middle and both batters played very well. They built up a strong partnership of 154 runs. Rizwan got out after scoring 77 runs off 74 deliveries. Fakhar Zaman scored a brilliant century. He got out after scoring 101 runs off 122 deliveries. He got run out.

Haris Sohail got out after scoring 22 runs. He also got run out. Salman Ali Agha played a brilliant knock of 45 runs. He scored quickly at the end of the inning. Nawaz, Usama, and Wasim Jnr. got out after scoring 8, 6, and 7 runs respectively.

Pakistan scored 280 runs in 50 overs for the loss of 9 wickets.

New Zealand’s Bowling:

New Zealand bowled well. Tim Southee got 3 wickets. Lockie Ferguson got 2 wickets. Ish Sodhi and Bracewell got 1 wicket each.

New Zealand’s Batting:

New Zealand’s opening pair gave them a decent start. Finn Allen got out after scoring 25 runs. He got run out.

Devon Conway was then joined by Kane Williamson on the crease. Both batters batted extremely well. Devon Conway got out after scoring 52 runs. Salman Ali Agha got Conway’s wicket.

Daryl Mitchell then joined Kane in the middle. He got out after scoring 31 runs. Agha Salman got his wicket too. Kane Williamson got run out after scoring 53 runs.

Bracewell and Latham got out after scoring 7 and 16 runs respectively. This seemed like the turning point of the match. But Glenn Phillips came to the party at that time. He scored a match-winning inning of 63 runs and turned the whole match in New Zealand’s favor in just 15-20 minutes. Santner helped him on the other end. Santner scored 15 runs.

New Zealand chased the target of 281 runs in 48.1 overs.

Pakistan’s Bowling:

Pakistan didn’t bowl well. Few runout opportunities were also missed by Pakistan. Overall, the 2nd inning of the match didn’t favor Pakistan.

Muhammad Wasim Jnr and Salman Ali Agha got 2 wickets each. Muhammad Nawaz and Usama Mir got 1 wicket each.

New Zealand has won the series. It was clear that the whole conspiracy around Babar Azam’s captaincy put a lot of pressure on the team.
